Thursday’s trading on Wall Street saw investors react positively to Viacom ’s Q4 results, sending the stock’s B-class shares up $1.82, to $43.89. It also benefited from an upgrade from “Market Perform” to “Outperform” by Barrington Research, as Wells Fargo analyst Marci Ryvicker initiated coverage on VIA-B, also setting an “Outperform” rating. Saga Communications increased by $1.76, to $49.31, as the company learns what its Reverse Auction proceeds from the FCC may be.

For Pandora founder and CEO Tim Westergren, “We made significant progress in 2016 by driving leverage in our core business while accelerating subscriptions to our paid product.” Tim Westergren He added that the streaming audio company enters 2017 “laser-focused on the growth of our ad-supported business, the launch and growth of our subscription products, and an artist-to-fan platform to drive listener engagement and ticket sales.” Nevertheless, its net loss soared and its adjusted EBITDA swung from a profit to a loss in Q4 2016. It also has slightly less cash and investments, compared to where Pandora was one year ago. Total revenue improved in Q4 for Pandora, to $392.6 million from $336.2 million in the year-ago period.
It was a good news, bad news fourth quarter for Nielsen. Here’s the good news: Revenue increased to $1.656 billion in the most recent quarter, from $1.624 billion in Q4 2015. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Equity Research predicted Q4 ’16 revenue of $1.65 billion.
