    Investors React To Cumulus Media’s Q4

    Cumulus Media , the radio industry’s second-biggest player by number of stations, on Thursday afternoon released lackluster Q4 and full-year 2016 results. Investors reacted on Friday by sending shares of CMLS down 16.6%, to 48 cents, on higher-than-average volume of roughly 249,750; average volume for Cumulus is 157,133. Other radio companies experienced a down day on Wall Street, with  Beasley Broadcast Group  dipping 3.7%, to $10.30, and  Entercom  finishing the day off 1.7%, to $14.25.

    Here’s The New CEO At A Real-Time TV Metrics Firm

Kevin Kohn  took on his new duties as the head of  iQ Media this week.  A veteran in the media and TV analytics space, Kohn previously served as the Chief Revenue Officer of data management company Lotame.     Garden State Pirate Problems Probed With Pai

    Unlicensed activity on the FM radio dial is a big problem in New Jersey, and  New Jersey Broadcasters Association  President  Paul Rotella  has made it known to FCC Chairman  Ajit Pai. Rotella recently met with FCC Commissioners and staff to discuss the serious “Pirate Radio” problems experienced in the Garden State. Along with NJBA Member Bob Taylor, Rotella made the case for enhanced enforcement of what he says is a growing problem.


    Nexstar Head Selected For Avatar

    The founder and President/CEO of  Nexstar Media Group  will be honored in late May with the  Media Financial Management Association (MFM) ‘s Avatar Award. The MFM’s highest honor, the award will be presented to  Perry Sook  in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the communications industry and exemplary role in community service. The award ceremony will take place following his delivery of a Keynote Address that will open Media Finance Focus 2017, the 57th annual conference for MFM and its BCCA subsidiary, the media industry’s credit association. The event is set for May 22-24 at The Hyatt Grand Cypress in Orlando. Sook’s address is based on the theme “Magic of Media,” and is set for 8:30 a.m.
