    Artel, Wheatstone Team On Live Remote Production

    2017 NAB SHOW IN REVIEW Artel Video Systems,  the provider of real-time multimedia delivery solutions, has teamed up with broadcast audio IP networking provider Wheatstone  on the end-to-end connectivity of live remote production.  Live remote production, or “at-home production,” is a growing trend due to the operating efficiencies associated with having less equipment and staff on site at remote locations. Working in partnership, Wheatstone and Artel demonstrated at the 2017 NAB Show how broadcasters can control audio services remotely and in real time. Artel’s InfinityLink broadcast media transport chassis provided the Ethernet links between Wheatstone’s foosball sporting event and the IP audio console in booth N6531, as well as the fiber link to the Artel booth N4511 a few aisles away. On the same bidirectional fiber link, feed from a GoPro on a drone in the Artel booth was networked into the WheatNet-IP using an I/O BLADE

    KFNZ Finds An Owner In Vic Michael

    From the Valley Isle to the Valley of the Sun, it’s been a busy 2017 for  Vic Michael . In December 2016, Michael’s non-profit  Cedar Cove Broadcasting  agreed to spend $30,000 for a construction permit for Facility No. 176305 in Willcox, Ariz., to the east of Tucson. Michael is also a key player in for-profit  Kona Coast Radio LLC , which in March agreed to a swap with  Educational Media Foundation  that sees its Hot AC KQMY-FM “My 100.7” in Kihei, Maui, trade facilities with “KLOVE” affiliate KMKV-FM 102.9 in Paia, Maui. Now, Michael has emerged as the buyer of a presently dark AM radio station in Salt Lake City owned by  Cumulus Media .

    CBS, Nexstar Give Back In Tuesday Trading

    It was a down day for two big broadcast TV companies, as  CBS Corp.  and  Nexstar Media Group  each saw respective declines on Wall Street Tuesday (5/2). For Nexstar, shares dipped 3.4%, to $64.75, on double the amount of trading it sees on average. However, it is likely a small hiccup for Nexstar, as its shares have soared in the last six months.
