    Broadcasting Engineers Pay Respects To Osenkowsky

    Tom Osenkowsky,  the associate editor of two editions of the National Association of Broadcasters Engineering Handbook, including the new 11th edition, has died. Osenkowsky had been suffering from both multiple myeloma and lymphoma. He was 62. A New York native, Osenkowsky served as the Chief Engineer for radio station WOWW-AM 1380 in the Hartford suburb of Naugatuck, Conn., from 1975-1977.

    A New Dante Master Clock Is Released

    Studio Technologies released the Model 5401 Dante Master Clock . The new master clock provides precise timing signals for applications that utilize Dante Audio-over-Ethernet media networking technology, and implements a IEEE 1588 precision time protocol (PTP) server, compatible with the requirements of Dante and capable of simultaneously supporting the timing needs of up to hundreds of Dante-compatible devices. The Model 5401 provides the PTP v1 compatibility required by Dante, as well as supporting PTP v2 for AES67 applications. In addition, the unit generates up to eight sine-wave audio tones on Dante transmit (output) channels, useful during audio network installation, maintenance, and operation.
