Alpha Delivers Dick Three Carolina Clusters

In the early 2000s,  Dick Broadcasting Co.  was among the many owners of AM and FM stations that decided to pare down their assets amidst a great wave of consolidation triggered by the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Now, following a year of discussions, Dick has decided to grow again. It just acquired three station groups in the Carolinas from Alpha Media. For an undisclosed price, Alpha is selling to Dick 18 stations across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia

Here Come The Home Improvement Dollars?

by Diana Stokey, Media Monitors It’s no surprise that in last week’s Media Monitors Radio Spot Ten report, The Home Depot remained in first place, thanks to 87,910 spots. The big question some are now asking is how much longer they will remain at No. 1, and if those spots will soon surpass 100,000 thanks to Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts and the unknown that is expected this weekend from Hurricane Irma. The Home Depot looks to be immediately responding to hardware and home repair needs in the Houston market, in addition to using the Labor Day weekend to push retail sales across the U.S.

Nielsen Reiterates Radio’s Big Audience Diversity

Multicultural marketers and the owners of such companies as Urban One and Univision Radio will hardly be surprised with the just-released findings from Nielsen Audio , which says “the national radio audience continues to diversity.” Do CMOs seeking Latinos, Asians and Blacks care enough to increase the sliver of ad dollars going to AM, FM and their digital components? Nielsen’s latest  Audio Today  report, which focuses on blacks and Hispanics, seeks to further serve as an attention-getter for an industry continuously struggling to show just how many consumers it has. In the U.S., radio reaches more Americans each week than any other platform,” Nielsen asserts

by Diana Stokey, Media Monitors Today is the first day of school across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Region, and advertisers were keenly aware of the shopping needs of parents going in to the Labor Day holiday weekend. Three top brick-and-mortar retailers used spot cable to help get customers in the doors — and at the checkout kiosks. In last week’s Media Monitors Cable Spot Ten report, Walmart , which rose to No. 6, was joined by JCPenney  and Sears  as retailers choosing cable TV spots to reach consumers. JCPenney moved up from No.
