PTC flips out over Ke$ha beverage choice
May 22nd, 2013 Audiostream Singer and MTV reality TV star Ke$ha has now been seen drinking her own urine over the air, and for the Parents Television Council, that means it is time for viewer choice in the form of a la carte MVPD menus. PTC’s Tim winter said, “If given the opportunity, I can’t imagine that parents would want to pay for a cable network that airs an episode of a pop star drinking her own urine, and that is why Congress needs to take seriously the idea of giving consumers the ability to choose and pay for only the cable networks they want. Most urgently, we are calling on parents and grandparents to be aware that this episode will air tonight and take appropriate measures.” Winter repeated PTC’s contention that its supporters are in effect forced to subsidize channels like MTV which they find objectionable

In addition, Mitchell will also host middays on KZZP. Mitchell has spent the past six years as Assistant Program Director and Afternoon host at KRBE in Houston. His more than 20 years of radio experience includes stops at KMXV in Kansas City; WXSS in Milwaukee; Y100 in Miami; and Q100 in Atlanta. May 22nd, 2013 Audiostream Cox Media Group (CMG) San Antonio has tapped Brian Hatfield as the new afternoon drive host on Today’s Country Y-100. Hatfield, a Detroit native, has held positions in Detroit, Charlotte, and most recently Ashville, NC. “San Antonio, get ready for The Hat Man!,” said Jeff Garrison, CMG San Antonio Operations Manager.
RadioTraks debuts “RequesTrak”
May 22nd, 2013 Audiostream Envision Radio Networks and RadioTraks announced the launch of RequesTrak, a listener engagement service that lets stations gather and keep track of their song requests by using a request widget that displays the radio station’s top requests and gives listeners real-time feedback on when their requested songs are scheduled to play, based on the station’s actual playlist. In addition to automatically logging the data from web requests made through the widget, RequesTrak gives stations the ability to manually log requests submitted via phone, text and email. Stations are given the option to collect a variety of demographic infon with requests including age, gender, city and more.
NBC takes Tuesday with Voice, tornado special

Cox Enterprises giving $1m to tornado victims

Cox Foundation, announced $1 million in support to assist the relief and recovery efforts of the communities affected by the recent tornadoes in Oklahoma. The contribution includes a $500,000 cash donation to the American Red Cross and $500,000 of in-kind support, including public service announcements
